Monet moved to Giverny in 1883. He worked tirelessly to transform the neglected estate into the floral masterpiece that inspired many of his greatest artworks.
Monet painted in his garden as well as out in the world, travelling further afield for extended painting campaigns. But in reality, he was never far away. Through his letters, he kept a close eye on his family and his flowers. Frequent visits by his friends and admirers made Giverny the centre of his life. Until his death in 1926, this artist, father, gardener and man never truly left Giverny.
